Our story
Started by young people who refused to look away
Great Noble Organization began in 2022 when a group of young people in Garissa watched a family eat from a rubbish bin outside a mosque after Friday prayers. They pooled their own money that same evening and bought groceries.
That small act became a habit. The habit became an organisation. Within a year, GNO had registered as a Community Based Organisation in Kenya, expanded to Garissa, and had completed over 80 food distributions.
We are not funded by foreign governments or large institutional donors. We are funded by people in the diaspora, local businesses, and Somalis who care. Our board is made up of people under 35. Our field workers live in the same neighbourhoods they serve.
Our long-term goal is to build a full orphanage in Garissa with classrooms, a medical bay, and safe housing — a permanent home for children who have none.

Our Mission
To improve the lives of orphans, disabled people, homeless individuals, and less fortunate families through practical support and community action.
Our Vision
A society where every vulnerable child and family receives care, education, and a fair chance at a better future.
Where we work
Garissa
Garissa faces compounded hardship — drought, displacement, and limited services. Our team runs food distributions, emergency response, orphan support, and education assistance across the county.
Expanding soon
As our capacity and funding increases, we plan to extend our programmes to other Somali communities across Kenya. For now, all resources go directly to Garissa.
How we work
Transparency
Every shilling donated is accounted for. We publish quarterly field reports and share photos from every distribution.
Dignity
We do not photograph beneficiaries without consent. We treat every person as a community member, not a charity case.
Community First
We hire and train local youth as field coordinators. This is not an outside organisation working for Garissa — it is Garissa working for itself.
No Discrimination
We help every family that needs help regardless of tribe, religion, or background, across Garissa Township, Bula Punda, Iftin, and surrounding areas.
Our team
Every member of the GNO leadership is a young Kenyan who came up from the same communities we now serve.
